The EMS committee meets on the second Thursday of each month at the Medical Examiner's office, with the exception of December, when the meeting is held in the host city for that particular year. The meeting runs from 9:00AM - 11:00 AM.
The committee is made up of EMS Chiefs from each Fire Department in Broward County. In addition, the committee meetings are attended by EMS Medical Directors, EMS support staff, vendors of EMS equipment, and representatives of the hospitals, health department, trauma services, and critical incident stress management (CISM).
A report is given by representatives of the key areas that effect EMS in order to keep all the EMS Chiefs current on issues that affect the delivery of EMS in Broward County. This committee makes recommendations to the Fire Chief's Association of Broward County, Inc. on EMS issues that require their attention.
The EMS committee has been the driving force behind the cutting edge pre-hospital care that is delivered by Fire Rescue systems throughout Broward County.
