Chief Jeff Levy – Lauderhill Fire -Chair –
The primary focus of the Mutual Aid and Communications Subcommittee is to improve and enhance communications between the 19 fire departments in Broward County. There are 113 fire stations in the county operated by 19 municipalities including Broward Sheriff’s Office Department of Fire Rescue. These stations protect 1.9 million people in a 1,300 square mile area. Emergency 911 calls are answered by 5 PSAP’s (Public Safety Answering Points) distributed throughout the county.
Participation in the Mutual Aid and Communication Subcommittee by each agency is crucial in order to maintain clear lines of communications, particularly during large-scale incidents. The backbone of this communication is accomplished through the Fire Chief’s Association of Broward County’s MARS (Mutual Aid Response System) and the mutual aid radio channels operated by Broward Sheriff’s Office Department of Fire Rescue.
Meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 2 p.m. at Broward EOC
