In Memoriam

In loving memory of ex Margate-Coconut Creek Fire Chief Garry Westbrook who passed away after a long medical battle. Chief Westbrook was a member of the Margate Fire Department from 1974-2011. During that time he served as the Fire Chief, Fire Code Official, and as Shift Captain.

I wanted to take a moment and thank everyone for their support and kind thoughts during this time.  The City of Margate and the Fire Department are grateful and appreciative that during difficult times, we all come together.

Please pass along the following information for the Wake/Visitation and the Procession/Burial. We are looking for units to take part during the Saturday procession.

Wake/Visitation will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and then from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at:

Procession/Burial will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021.

  • We are requesting at least one unit from agencies to take part in the procession.
  • Tac 9 will be the channel used for all vehicles.
  • Please have fire department vehicles stage at 12:30 pm off of NW 29th Street and Banks Road.  Map is attached.

  • A Staging Manager will be onsite directing units.
  • Margate Police Department will be shuttling personnel from their trucks to the funeral home and back.
  • At approximately 1:30 pm the procession will begin and expected to arrive at 2:15 pm at the cemetery.  Map is attached.
  • Access to the cemetery lot is tight.  Those vehicles wishing to end the procession participation can do so at the entrance to the cemetery and continue south bound on St RD 7. 
    • Vehicles that want to remain at the cemetery will be staged near the burial site.
